Day 21. #FavoriteRecordFriday THE HARD-ONS - “Smell My Finger”. It would be impossible for me to pick my favourite record but I can pick the one that changed my life in a huge way. I had already heard punk music like the Ramones / Sex Pistols / Dead Kennedy’s, etc. the usuals. And it was great and all but it wasn’t until I heard this record that it all clicked. The moment my ears heard this, everything seemed right. I bought the record, took it home and played it on repeat endlessly until I had enough money to go buy more. This band are the most important band in my life and love for punk rock. 1988 was a bizarre year for me but these guys changed everything for the better. Without a doubt the greatest band Australia has ever given the rest of the world (besides AC/DC, but that doesn’t even need to be said). #thehardons #hardons #smellmyfinger #punk #rock #australia #februaryrecordaday #recordaday #instavinyl #igvinylclub

USA release of The Hard-Ons ‘Smell My Finger’ EP with the two cuts from The Girl In The Sweater 7” tucked on the end. Bitchin’! I probably already own this but that’s ok cos you can never have too many Hard-Ons records. #vinyl #records #hardons #thehardons #punk #rock #smellmyfinger
Such a great underrated record! Dee Dee was a genius. I love the Ramones. How is it that one band could just be so fucking awesome all the time? Like there was no down period. It was like everything touched turned to gold… Including Dee Dee’s rap album.
After more than a 2 month delay, we are back. Why the delay? Well, I went to the USA and so in this episode you get to hear all about it. I tell all about the awesome of travelling around the United States, the craziness of Record Store Day in Hollywood, the sites, the sounds, the bands I saw, the whole sha-bang. But it doesn’t end there, I also play you a bunch of music that I bought over there mixed in with some classics. You’re gonna dig this show. Lotsa fantastic tunes including one quirky and unique MC5 cover that I was truly flipped out over when I heard it and now you can to. If you want to tune in and start listening, click here and it will play. If you’d rather get straight to a download of the show right now then do so by right clicking and save as on this link.
Enjoy tunes by:
The White Stripes
Against The Grain
The Wonder Years
For those that have not been fortunate enough to ever hear a SPUNKBUBBLES tune, may I introduce them to you. This is the first song I ever heard by the band so for those that have never heard them before, this will be your first introduction also. Don’t be ‘that guy’ and just ignore this post and continue listening to the same albums you have heard before. Be adventurous and listen to something new.
THE HARD-ONS setlist from their show last night at the Espy in St Kilda. The encore was: What Would Stiv Bators Do? Don’t Wanna See You Cry
