sonicshakes:

This is SONIC SHAKES first label release and it’s quite a looker! This new release by Melbourne motorpunk rock n roll band, MUSCLE CAR, has quite an interesting back story to it.

- Recorded at IndieEar Studios in Vandoncourt, France, Engineered by Mitch.

It might no work out so cheap for USA folks with the dollar like it is but then again, when I was there I paid $12 for some singles that were imports so maybe it isn’t so bad? Anyway, check it out…
If you want to hear a sample of it, go here:

Please reblog if you can.
Cheers peoples!

Spent the day in the recording studio putting the finishing touches on our new single. It’s all mixed and mastered and ready to be sent off to the vinyl pressing plant. There’s 2 tracks, one original called Daibutsu Rock N Roll which is a tribute to the great music and people of Japan, and the B-side has a cover of The Replacements “Bastards Of Young”. I am totally blown away by how good this has come out.

MUSCLE CAR need a new drummer…

If you love bands like Motorhead / The Wildhearts / Hellacopters / Turbonegro / Gluecifer etc. And you like touring, playing shows and live in Melbourne, please get in touch with us.

Or if you know someone who may fit the bill, please let them know. We like recording records, kicking out the jams and touring.

Music and contact stuff on our Tumblr: http://musclecarrock.tumblr.com/

Please reblog this and help us find a drummer who will turn up to rehearsal. Thanks!

It’s cheap and there are only 5 girls shirts left and then that’s it. Wig Wam Bam!

Just got home from playing a show with Perth punk band, the Chainsaw Hookers. Awesome band, great people. The show was fantastic and the crowd was wonderful. We had so much fun and everyone seemed to have enjoyed it. The Pony bar was quite full which was good to see. So many people out and about at 2am. Thankyou to everyone who came out and rocked with us. I realised once again just how much I love doing what we do and this whole playing live thing. Now, bedtime!

MUSCLE CAR on stage with Kris Roe from The Ataris playing a cover of Poison’s “Talk Dirty To Me”. This show was weird for us. We were asked to play at the last minute as they hadn’t booked a support band. For the strangest reason we were asked to play and when we arrived, Kris saw I was wearing a Skid Row shirt and we started talking glam rock. We then told him we played Talk Dirty To Me and he asked if he could sing it with us. So we invited him on stage and it was captured on video for history. Pretty funny, actually. That was a good night. The kids didn’t really understand us but we had a blast regardless.

The 3 different designs for our Sandra Sully EP designed by this lovely girl we know named Sarah. The bottom design is the one we went with. We were told we couldn’t use a photo of Sandra on the cover so we asked a friend to draw a picture of her and I still think, to this day, she did a great job. Sandra herself knows about the song, heard it (although it wasn’t really her thing), and approves of it. We’re pretty happy about that cos I actually love this song and we still enjoy playing it live to this day. I tried to remove the song from the set once and the people who come to see us weren’t having a part of it and demanded we play it. So, 11 years on, we still play this song at every show. :)

You can listen / watch the video for it here:

Note: For those who don’t know who Sandra Sully is, she is an Australian news presenter and we felt that all these other celebs get sung about but no one praised Sandra. We knew it was the right thing to do. She rocks!

Muscle Car - Queen Of Noise
20 plays

And here it is… listen away. Our very first single. I did the first solo at the start and that was pretty much the extent of my solo work in Muscle Car. :)

This was my band’s first ever 7” vinyl record. Only 312 pressed. These tracks were raw and a sign of the times although I am not a huge fan of the actual recordings. These songs are now available on our re-issue CD, “The Early Years”, which has all our collected singles from the Adelaide line-up of the band before I moved to Melbourne and reformed the band with new guys (who have made the band sound so amazing and different, yet more like Motorhead). This record is sold out so don’t ask me for copies cos I have 1 test press and 1 actual press and that’s it. I wish I had more but I don’t and wanted people out there to have them so didn’t hold on to any copies. Alas, it’s a piece of my history. Yep, rock.
Alex will dig the cover. :)

MUSCLE CAR TO CELEBRATE THE 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THEIR SANDRA SULLY RELEASE.After jumping the border and relocating to Melbourne, long time rock n roll band, MUSCLE CAR, are returning to their hometown of Adelaide for 1 show only to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of their Sandra Sully EP. The band have just returned from playing in Japan and are happy to be coming home to celebrate the EP that started it all. The Sandra Sully EP released in 2001 was 5 tracks of a heavy fuzztoned mix of glam, punk and rock n roll with the EP’s title track quickly becoming a staple of the band’s set with the CD charting on the Changes One independent charts in the UK, with the irony being that the people of England had no idea who Sandra was.Celebrating this anniversary, MUSCLE CAR will be joined by an all-star line-up of Melbourne bands including BUNNY MONROE, THE R.I.P. RIDES and THE COUNCIL at The Enigma Bar on Saturday the 19th of November. All the action starts 8:30pm for a measly $10. Bargain!

We’re playing Adelaide next weekend. Come out and join us in our celebrations.
